Through the integration of Coral Systems' FraudBuster(R) fraud management software, BellSouth Mobility DCS will be able to provide a new level of security for its customers in the GSM arena.

In an effort to protect their subscribers from subscription fraud as well as the development of new types of fraud, BellSouth will implement Coral Systems' fraud detection system in its GSM system that covers North Carolina, South Carolina and Eastern Tennessee.

Subscription fraud, which industry sources estimate comprised 30 percent of U.S. fraud losses in 1995, is the activation and use of cellular service with no intent to pay for the service, and often involves use of stolen or forged identification.

FraudBuster is designed specifically to identify, recognize and stop fraud in multiple wireless systems. Through its support of wireless standards from GSM and AMPS to CDMA and TDMA, FraudBuster provides a highly versatile solution in a rapidly changing industry. Through the development of personalized customer profiles based on the subscriber's typical calling patterns, FraudBuster can immediately identify suspicious usage.
