Bell Nexxia and Teleglobe to Provide Communications Services to Canadian Diplomatic Missions Around the Globe.

to Mexico and Central America 

Bell Nexxia Inc. and Teleglobe Communication Services Inc. have won a bid from the Canadian Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade (DFAIT) to implement a global telecommunications network that will enable the Department to link its 144 Canadian diplomatic missions in 92 countries.

This three-year assignment, worth over $40 million, will also be carried out in association with France Telecom.

The new infrastructure will allow DFAIT to provide its diplomatic missions with a full range of integrated voice and data services. Each of the carriers involved will provide services on specific regions of the network. Thus, Bell Nexxia will provide connection in Canada and will also act as end-to-end integrator of the global communications solution.

Teleglobe Communication Services will be responsible for connection to South America, Asia, Oceania, the United States and the link to Europe.

France Telecom, using Global One services, will be responsible for links in Europe and the Middle East.

The connection to Mexico and Central America will be handled by American TeleSource International Inc. (OTC BB:AMTI). In addition, the contract includes a "one-stop-shopping" project-management concept provided by Bell Nexxia for implementation, upgrades, service levels and billing for the entire international network.
