Bell Microproducts and Unisys Corporation Sign Distribution Agreement to Market New Storage Products; Agreement Marks Unisys Storage Systems Division Entry into Indirect Channel Market.

, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 1, 1996--Bell Microproducts Inc. today announced a distribution agreement with Unisys Corp.'s Storage Systems Division (SSD See solid state disk. ) to distribute their storage products.

The distribution agreement finalized between Bell Microproducts and Unisys earlier this month marks Unisys' entry into the indirect channel marketplace to sell its storage products.

Bell Microproducts will distribute Unisys storage products for industry leading open systems platforms and operating systems Operating systems can be categorized by technology, ownership, licensing, working state, usage, and by many other characteristics. In practice, many of these groupings may overlap. . The ODM3900 is a state-of-the-art, injection molded polymer storage enclosure designed to house up to seven devices. It can be configured with RAID for data protection in the enclosure or as a non-RAID, disk only, deskside or rack mount configuration. The ODM3900 is an ideal low cost solution for data storage.

The ODR5900 is a high availability Also called "RAS" (reliability, availability, serviceability) or "fault resilient," it refers to a multiprocessing system that can quickly recover from a failure. There may be a minute or two of downtime while one system switches over to another, but processing will continue.  subsystem which allows the user to configure from 20GB to 120GB of storage as a RAID 1, 3, 5, 10 or even non-RAID groups. The ODR5900 can scale up to 240GB in a rack mount enclosure for customers requiring large database solutions.
