Bell Helicopter Names Hess President and Chief Operating Officer; 23-Year McDonnell Douglas/Boeing Executive Brings Experience to Post.

Textron Inc.'s Bell Helicopter unit today announced that Glenn E. Hess has been named President and Chief Operating Officer Chief Operating Officer (COO)

Hess, who joins the company after a 23-year career with McDonnell Douglas/Boeing, will be responsible for managing Bell's engineering, manufacturing, procurement and material management operations, filling a critical post that has been vacant since John Murphey was promoted to chairman and CEO (1) (Chief Executive Officer) The highest individual in command of an organization. Typically the president of the company, the CEO reports to the Chairman of the Board.  last September.
