Bell's Revolutionary FlatBlocker Tires, Tubes Stop Flats Dead in Their Tracks.

Flat tires are the No. 1 reason people stop riding their bicycles, but Bell(R) Sports has created a way to combat flats and keep people pedaling.

Bell, the world's largest supplier of bicycle tubes and tires, today introduced its FlatBlocker(TM) product line, an exclusive flat prevention system that fights flats while maintaining a smooth ride on air-filled tires. The FlatBlocker line incorporates an extra thick, extra hard proprietary rubber compound and the No. 1 sealant brand -- Slime(R) -- to prevent punctures from ruining rides.

Bell's FlatBlocker(TM) Tires and FlatBlocker(TM) MAX Self Sealing Tubes are available just in time for summer riding and back-to-school biking.

The FlatBlocker product line fights flats in three ways:

1. FlatBlocker tires are 200 percent thicker than standard bicycle tires in areas where punctures are most likely to occur. The tires feature ShardGuard(TM) Protection, which is an extra hard, yet flexible, proprietary compound that guards against punctures from sharp objects, like thorns and nails.

2. FlatBlocker Max inner tubes are 300 percent thicker than standard bicycle tubes, with more protection where punctures most often penetrate the tube.

3. If a puncture does occur, FlatBlocker Max inner tubes are pre-loaded with Slime sealant, which automatically seals holes up to 1/8 inch. While the wheel is still rolling, centrifugal force centrifugal force

and air pressure in the tube push Slime through the hole, sealing it almost instantly. The Slime sealant can plug multiple punctures per tube -- as many as 100 according to according to

"Flat tires take the fun out of bike riding," said Cathy Kolumbus, business unit director, Bell Sports. "Bell took the standard bike tire and tube back to the drawing board and essentially reinvented the wheel -- with new technology and materials designed to stop flats before they occur."

FlatBlocker Tires are available at mass retailers in 20" and 26" sizes at a suggested retail price of $9.96-$10.96. FlatBlocker MAX Self Sealing Tubes come in 16", 20", 24" and 26" sizes and are also available at mass retailers at a suggested retail price of $9.96-$10.96.
