Belfry will help to put county on map; TOURISM.


A PARTNERSHIP which aims to increase tourism in Staffordshire Staffordshire (stăf`ərdshĭr), county (1991 pop. 1,020,300), 1,157 sq mi (2,997 sq km), W central England. The county seat is Stafford. The terrain is gently undulating except for a district of rugged moorlands in the north.  has been boosted with a new member.

 golf club has joined the Staffordshire Destination Management Partnership.

The group is made up of private and public sector members with the aim of increasing and improving tourism in the area.

As part of the work carried out by the partnership, a new Staffordshire logo has been developed along with a dedicated website to market what's great about the county.

The Belfry's membership follows the announcement of their plans to develop the club into the largest golf resort in the country.

Their plans include doubling the resort size with a completely redeveloped 500 room, five-star hotel, golf and leisure complex.

The Belfry's head of marketing Louise Blyth said: "We are very happy to work with the partnership and be part of making Staffordshire a continuing success as a tourist destination A tourist destination is a city, town or other area the economy of which is dependent to a significant extent on the revenues accruing from tourism.

It may contain one or more tourist attractions or visitor attractions and possibly some "tourist traps".
