Belenos Announces Formation of Telephony Practice.

Belenos, Inc., a rapidly expanding internet-based consulting firm, today announced the formation of its Telephony Practice, the appointment of the Practice Director, and the opening of its third regional office.

The new practice is formed around a team of telecommunications professionals who bring together over 150 years of industry expertise in designing, building, deploying, and enhancing state-of-the-art telecommunications networks. In particular, the team brings the singular ability to address next-generation issues associated with the convergence of voice, video and data services. The Mid-west practice members will be located in Belenos' newest office in the Chicago suburb of Lisle, Illinois. Walter J. Mansell has been promoted to director, telephony services, and will head the new practice from the company's Massachusetts headquarters.

The telecommunications team will provide both internal and external services to Belenos and its many clients. Its client-related functions include: consulting on technical and procedural issues, providing telephony training to engineering and other technical staff, assisting in the selection of network components and services, and top level consulting to clients in the construction of business plans for the development and deployment of new networks and services.

About Walt Mansell

Mansell joined Belenos a principal telecommunications engineer. With over 30 years in the telecommunications and data networking, he is considered an industry expert.

Throughout his career, Mansell has been participated the development of industry standards and forums; he has been the featured speaker at numerous national and international telecommunications forums.

Prior to joining Belenos, he worked for Compaq Computer Corporation, where he was actively involved in the design of telecommunications-class server products. He was also active in the formation of the Universal ASDL Working Group. Prior to Compaq, Mansell was a product manager for Shiva Corporation, and before that he was operations manager for the MIT telecommunications network. He spent many years with New England Telephone and its predecessor companies.

He holds a bachelor of science degree in information technology from the University of Lowell, and has done graduate level work at Northeastern University.
