Beirut syndrome?

Warren Singh-Bartlett laments over how "cruelly we have all been deceived" with regard to the recent attacks on Beirut Beirut (bārt`), Arab. Bayrut, Fr. Beyrouth, city (1996 est. pop. 1,200,000), W Lebanon, capital of Lebanon, on the Mediterranean Sea, at the foot of the Lebanon Mts. , a city he describes as "gay-friendly" yet where homosexuality homosexuality, a term created by 19th cent. theorists to describe a sexual and emotional interest in members of one's own sex. Today a person is often said to have a homosexual or a heterosexual orientation, a description intended to defuse some of the long-standing  remains outlawed [First Person, August 29]. There are many defense mechanisms human beings can use when trying to cope under extreme duress duress (dy`rĭs, d`–, d  and trauma, and it would appear to me that Singh-Bartlett may be experiencing signs of self-deception. A few questions for him to perhaps refresh (1) To continuously charge a device that cannot hold its content. CRTs must be refreshed, because the phosphors hold their glow for only a few milliseconds. Dynamic RAM chips require refreshing to maintain their charged bit patterns. See vertical scan frequency and redraw.  his memory:

1) Were you not aware that one of the world's largest terror organizations was based in Lebanon and had a significant infrastructure within your gay-friendly city?

2) Was your television not working on the days when thousands of Hezbollah members and supporters marched down the streets of Beirut, calling for the destruction of Israel and Jews--oh, and Americans like you?

3) Did you know that many of your Lebanese neighbors willingly elected members of Hezbollah to be representatives in the Lebanese government?

I do hope Singh-Bartlett has the opportunity to answer these questions and as such find some resolution with regard to this so-called deception deception n. the act of misleading another through intentionally false statements or fraudulent actions. (See: fraud, deceit)  he writes about. Many of your Jewish readers such as myself who have read their history books are not so easily deceived.
