Russo, who died in 1985, was a controversial figure in Australian journalism, taking provocative stances before and after he lived in Japan in the 1930s. His relentless criticism of Western intervention in anti-colonial movements in Asia and his hostility toward American foreign policy brought him to the attention of Australian security officials, who saw him first as a fascist (jargon) fascist - Said of a computer system with excessive or annoying security barriers, usage limits, or access policies. The implication is that said policies are preventing hackers from getting interesting work done. The variant "fascistic" seems to have been preferred at MIT.  and then a communist.
