Before hitting tile road with David Archuleta, Demi Lovato (who turns 17 on Aug. 20) gave us the inside scoop on some of her most personal songs from her second album, Here We Go Again, out July 21.

For The Love Of A Daughter "It's about my relationship with my biological father. I wrote it with William Beckett [from The Academy Is ...]. Being able to write with him was incredible."

Shut Up and Love Me "I wrote 'Shut Up and Love Me' with John Mayer. I was always posting that I was listening to him. And then, he reached out [to me on Twitter]!"

Every Time You Lie "Most of the album is about things I went through. But 'Every Time You Lie' is about a friend's breakup. Sine told me her situation, and then I wrote about it."
