Beetles dig it in Lennon's old garden.


FOUR beetles were found in a survey of wildlife in the garden at John Lennon's childhood home.

The "fab four" were spotted by National Trust ecologists, which owns the house, known as Mendips.

They included a wasp beetle and three species of ladybird.

The survey of the 100ft garden in Woolton, Liverpool, also unearthed Unearthed is the name of a Triple J project to find and "dig up" (hence the name) hidden talent in regional Australia.

Unearthed has had three incarnations - they first visited each region of Australia where Triple J had a transmitter - 41 regions in all.
 wildflowers, birds, a frog and a wood mouse.

Ecologist Peter Brash said: "We uncovered a garden which has been undisturbed for years, with lots of nearby green spaces like Strawberry Fields, and is ideal for wildlife."

Lennon lived at the three-bed house with his Aunt Mimi from age five to 23. He wrote Beatles songs there in the 1950s and 60s.

It was bought by Yoko Ono Noun 1. Yoko Ono - United States musician (born in Japan) who married John Lennon and collaborated with him on recordings (born in 1933)
Ono
 in 2002 and donated to the National Trust.
