Beer retailer mad at MADD.


TORONTO -- The Beer Store, Ontario's monopoly beer retailer, will no longer allow Mothers Against Drunk Driving Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) is a nonprofit organization with more than 600 chapters nationwide. MADD seeks to find effective solutions to the problems of drunk driving and underage drinking, while also supporting those persons whose relatives and friends have been killed by drunk  to place its coin boxes and red ribbons in its outlets.

MADD Canada cites a difference of opinion over policy as the reason why the Beer Store has closed its doors to them, stating that MADD MADD Mothers Against Drunk Drivers Public health An organization that advocates stricter legislation against DUI and underage drinking, and provides support services for victims of DUI collisions. See DUI.  Canada's impaired driving policies are incompatible with the policy direction taken by the brewing industry. The cause for the break in the long relationship is the aggressive lobbing activities of organizations.

MADD Canada is pressing the Federal Government for new impaired driving legislation. Central to this legislative reform agenda is the combined policies of:

* lowering of the blood alcohol concentration blood alcohol concentration

 legal limit from 0.08% to 0.05%, and

* enhancing police powers police powers n. from the 10th Amendment to the Constitution, which reserves to the states the rights and powers "not delegated to the United States" which include protection of the welfare, safety, health and even morals of the public.  to enforce impaired driving laws.
