The Beer Lover's Choice Winning Brew Will Be Available Nationwide in January 2007

BOSTON -- The votes are in and craft beer lovers across the country have chosen Samuel Adams([R]) Honey Porter as the winner of the 2006 Beer Lover's Choice contest. Beginning in January 2007, the winning brew will join the variety of full-flavored styles of Samuel Adams beers available nationwide.

The brewers at Samuel Adams unveiled two distinct styles of full-flavored craft beer and encouraged beer lovers to vote for their favorite. Samuel Adams Honey Porter and Samuel Adams([R]) Smoked Lager were tasted and voted on by more than 14,000 beer enthusiasts at nearly 800 tasting events across the country during August and September. Both beers received rave reviews, but in the end it was the roasted malt character and smooth finish of the Honey Porter that proved the favorite, with 8,206 votes. The smoky aroma and sweet caramel notes of the Smoked Lager received an impressive 5,984 votes.

"We are thrilled that so many beer enthusiasts came out and voted for their favorite new style. Honey Porter and Smoked Lager have distinct flavor profiles and were chosen by the Samuel Adams brewers to excite and educate beer lovers about the broad spectrum of craft beers available," said Jim Koch, founder and brewer of Samuel Adams beers. Samuel Adams Boston Lager([R]) has led a beer renaissance in America by reviving a passion for full-bodied brews that are robust and rich with character. This lager is a beautiful, deep amber color, brewed with only the best ingredients, including hand-selected Hallertau Mittelfrueh Noble hops from Bavaria.

Samuel Adams([R]) Boston Ale is specially brewed, fermented and aged in the traditional stock ale tradition imparting bright citrus aromas and a full-bodied, robust taste to the brew. Classic English ale hops, East Kent Goldings and Fuggles, are hand-selected and added to the brew, giving it an earthy, herbal character. Its red amber color has a slight glow from the two-row Harrington and crystal malts, which are added in generous quantities. This beer is smoother than most ales and richer than most lagers with a round, robust taste.

Samuel Adams([R]) Scotch Ale is a brew for adventurous beer drinkers. It is brewed with three special malts, including rare peat-smoked malt kilned a heated chamber for drying malt.
