SIR Ian Botham is defying the credit crunch Credit Crunch

An economic condition whereby investment capital is difficult to obtain. Banks and investors become weary of lending funds to corporations thereby driving up the price of debt products for borrowers.
 by raising more than pounds 30,000 a day on his latest charity walk.

The former England cricketer has pulled in over pounds 100,000 after the first three of nine walks in nine towns in nine days.

He said yesterday: "People have had a gutful of bad news. They relish doing something positive."
