Beef industry gives first leadership award. (FYI News & Notes).
William D. Farr of Greeley Greeley, city (1990 pop. 60,536), seat of Weld co., N Colo., at the base of the Front Range of the Rocky Mts.; inc. 1885. It is a rail and trade center for a rich irrigated farm area. There is meatpacking and other food processing and the manufacture of bridges, apparel, chemicals, and software. Greeley was founded (1870) by Horace Greeley through his agent, Nathan C. Meeker, as a cooperative farm and temperance colony., Colo. has received the beef industry's first-ever Swan Leadership Award. The award was presented by Libby Swan, wife of the late Bill Swan and mother of the late George Swan, the two gentlemen after whom the award is named. Farr was recognized for a lifetime of industry leadership during the 2002 Cattle Industry Convention and Trade Show in Denver. Farr, 91, has worked for more than 70 years in the livestock industry.
