Beeb gets a ballroom ratings blitz.

It is the first time in this series that the Beeb's ballroom hit has gone ahead of the pop talent show.

Fiona Phillips's exit from the dance show drew 7.8million viewers while only 7.3million saw Kate Thornton hug a tearful Chenai Zinyuku, 17, as she left X Factor.

ITV insiders blamed bonfire night for the disappointing figures. One said: "X Factor has a younger audience. A lot were out at firework displays. The older viewers stayed in for the ballroom show."

The ratings were in contrast to last week when ITV had 10million viewers, to the Beeb's 7million.

Meanwhile, Chenai said she was ditched by mentor Louis Walsh because he believes a male will win. She added: "He has told me, 'Boys pull the votes in'. He's in it to win it In It To Win It is a television programme in the UK. It is presented by Dale Winton, and it first started in 2002. It is one of the many quiz shows to support the National Lottery televised draws, broadcast on Saturdays on BBC1. , as well as us."
