Road area were upset when National Express withdrew a large section of a route between the estate and the town centre. They petitioned against the changes and enrolled the support of local councillors Bill Hancox and Richard Chattaway, who met bus chief Bernard Ber·nard , Claude 1813-1878. French physiologist noted for his study of the digestive and nervous systems. Delaney. Coun Hancox said: "He promised to review the service and let us know within four weeks. We have received that response but only because it has been forwarded to us by officers at the County Council. We as councillors did not even have the courtesy of a direct reply from Mr Delaney. "The County Council of-ficer informs us that National Express will not reinstate the service and we are extremely angry that Mr Delaney has refused to accept our representations. "The company said that they removed the service because they could not comply with the timetable. This seems to have been replaced by financial reasons. National Express continue to say that there is adequate provision and fail to recognise that there is no service on a Sunday and after a certain time in the evenings. We will continue to make residents' feelings known." |
