 is to become a thing of the past, it was revealed yesterday.

One-room flats, which are synonymous with synonymous with
adjective equivalent to, the same as, identical to, similar to, identified with, equal to, tantamount to, interchangeable with, one and the same as
 students, are to get a makeover under Government plans to tighten up regulations for rented accommodation.

Environment Minister John Gormley said there will be "more modern" standards to "protect consumers and the public".

Housing Minister Michael Finneran added: "The existing standards reflect a very different, poorer Ireland.

"I am proud to take a step forward in significantly improving the quality of life for the more vulnerable members of society."
