Becton Dickinson, PharMingen and LeukoSite Sign License Agreement for Chemokines and Receptors.


SAN JOSE, Calif.--(BW HealthWire)--Oct. 8, 1997--Becton Dickinson and Company of Franklin Lakes, New Jersey Franklin Lakes is a borough in Bergen County, New Jersey, United States. As of the United States 2000 Census, the borough population was 10,422.  through its operating unit Becton Dickinson Immunocytometry Systems (BDIS BDIS Broadcast Disconnect (AT&T) ) of San Jose, and subsidiary PharMingen in San Diego, today announced that they have reached an agreement for a worldwide exclusive license to certain research and diagnostic reagents developed at LeukoSite Inc. of Cambridge, Mass.

Under the terms of the agreement, LeukoSite grants to BDIS and PharMingen the rights to commercialize antibodies to several chemokine chemokine /che·mo·kine/ (ke´mo-kin) any of a group of low molecular weight cytokines identified on the basis of their ability to induce chemotaxis or chemokinesis in leukocytes (or in particular populations of leukocytes) in inflammation.  and chemokine receptors, including CCR 1. The financial terms of the agreement were not disclosed.

Through aggressive internal product development programs and technology licensing efforts, PharMingen has introduced more than 2,500 products in the 10 years since the company was founded. The company of 260 employees is headquartered in San Diego, with offices in Hamburg, Germany and Mississauga (Ontario), Canada.
