(NYSE:BEC), announced today that the acquisition by Beckman of Hybritech Incorporated, a Lilly subsidiary based in San Diego San Diego (săn dēā`gō), city (1990 pop. 1,110,549), seat of San Diego co., S Calif., on San Diego Bay; inc. 1850. San Diego includes the unincorporated communities of La Jolla and Spring Valley. Coronado is across the bay. , Calif., has been completed. This follows the announcement on September 29, 1995, that both companies had reached a definitive agreement. Financial terms were not disclosed. The transaction has no effect on the Hybritech Contingent Payment Obligation Units (CPUs, AMEX AMEX See: American Stock Exchange : HYU), which will expire without payment. Hybritech's historic sales and gross profits never met the levels required for payment on the CPUs, and performance in 1995 (the final year of effectiveness of the CPUs) did not meet those required levels either.
