Beckett plays at Fisch Haus.

WICHITA - 5 by Beckett, an evening of five short plays by Samuel Beckett, will be presented at the Fisch Haus, 524 S. Commerce, on Saturday, Oct. 29 at 8pm. Doors will open at 7:30. The plays featured are Quad, Catastrophe, Play, Come and Go, and What Where. Admission is free with donations gratefully accepted.

Quad explores the isolation and anonymity of contemporary life as four figures move silently in a perfect square pattern. Catastrophe confronts the silencing impact that power has over the individual. Play tells the story of a love triangle gone awry as three people retell the sordid details of their affair and the aftermath. Come and Go highlights the gossip experienced by a trio of female friends when one of them is absent. What Where finishes the evening with an absurd look at torture as a means of discovering the truth.

A group of four actors will play all of the roles in the five short pieces. A quartet of musicians, including local favorite Kit Craig, will provide pre-show music and incidental music throughout the evening. Award-winning actor and director Michael E. Webber will direct the event. The evening of theatre is intended for mature audiences.
