Bechtel, one of the world's premier engineering, construction, and project management companies, will also license the rights to SimSci-Esscor's Comos FEED integrated platform to specifically address front-end engineering design (FEED) requirements.

The multi-million dollar contract marks Bechtel's first implementation of the Comos FEED platform, which SimSci-Esscor launched in July 2004. Under terms of the agreement, Bechtel will renew its existing software contract for an extended term and will license the rights to additional software solutions. The new agreement, which augments a long-term collaborative relationship between the two companies, provides Bechtel with additional flexibility and added efficiency as it can use a comprehensive variety of SimSci-Esscor solutions to meet its engineering needs.

"The addition of Comos FEED to SimSci-Esscor's full suite of products enables Bechtel to significantly increase engineering productivity and benefit from the use of simulation technology," said Alastair Fraser, vice president of SimSci-Esscor's simulation business line. "The new agreement enables Bechtel's engineers to select, in real-time, the products that provide the most value for the project that they are completing. Bechtel now has a considerable variety of SimSci-Esscor's software that can be used immediately as needed as needed prn. See prn order.  and exchanged at any time for a different solution."

In addition to the Comos FEED platform, Bechtel will have access to SimSci-Esscor's Dynsim dynamic simulator (1) Software that enables the execution of an application written for a different computer environment. Same as emulator.

(2) Software that models the interactions of hypothetical or real-world objects or business processes.

. Bechtel plans to continue to use all products in SimSci-Esscor's Process Engineering Suite, software solutions that improve engineering productivity and increase plant profitability through process engineering design and operational analysis.

"Our objective with this contract is to optimize the value received from the capital that the company has previously invested in Invensys products," said Joe Keel keel

, chief of process engineering at Bechtel. "We want to promote the value and utility of other products and services in the Invensys portfolio across the organization. The Comos FEED solution is a clear example of this increased usage for Bechtel."

The Comos FEED platform is the result of a joint alliance between SimSci-Esscor and Innotec GmbH, a software development firm specializing in process-oriented plant construction, operation and maintenance. The platform enables data, document and knowledge management as well as integration of process-engineering activities by interfacing with commonly used process-engineering applications. The solution's seamless integration An addition of a new application, routine or device that works smoothly with the existing system. It implies that the new feature or program can be installed and used without problems. Contrast with "transparent," which implies that there is no discernible change after installation.  with SimSci-Esscor's PRO/II process simulation software Simulation software is based on the process of imitating a real phenomenon with a set of mathematical formulas. It is, essentially, a program that allows the user to observe an operation through simulation without actually running the program. , allows import of simulation data during scope and conceptual development as well as throughout the preliminary engineering phases of a project. The system provides multi-discipline engineers with a concurrent, distributed and collaborative environment in which to manipulate or augment simulation data. It also manages non-simulation data for defining process flow and equipment specifications.
