CORVALLIS - Pitchers Brianne McGowan and Ta'Tyana McElroy led the way as the 17th-ranked Oregon State swept a nonconference softball doubleheader against Portland State by scores of 4-0 and 6-2 on Tuesday.

McGowan (19-7) struck out six en route to her 34th career shutout victory and is two strikeouts shy of breaking the OSU school record of 809, held by Crystal Draper (1999-02).

The Beavers (30-12) jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the second game on two-run singles by Mia Longfellow and Cambria Miranda. Kelly Dyer's pinch hit two-RBI double made the score 6-0 in the bottom of the third.
