Beavers survive WSU's upset threat.

Jones hit four free throws in the final 13 seconds as the Beavers beat Washington State 65-62 on Thursday night, handing the Cougars (0-15, 0-8) their 40th consecutive loss.

Washington State's last win came on Nov. 29, 2001, when the Cougars beat Gonzaga 80-72.

The Beavers (10-7, 4-4) used a 14-6 rally over the final 3:28 to come back from a 56-49 deficit. "Washington State hit some big shots. We had a lot of great looks inside but couldn't find the basket," Spoelstra said.

Oregon State was just 1-of-11 in the first six minutes, and the Cougars' lead was 12-6 when Charmaine Jones hit a three-pointer with 12:43 left in the first half.

But WSU's Bianca McCall, who led all players with 20 points and 11 rebounds for her third consecutive double-double, hit two field goals to give the Cougars a 27-26 halftime lead.

OSU heads to Seattle for a 5 p.m. Saturday matchup with Washington that will be telecast live on Fox Sports Net.

TEMPE, Ariz. - Arizona State's Jenny Thigpin, without a start this season, made the most of her opportunity on Thursday, outdueling her old high school teammate and better-known rival.

``I just went in with confidence,'' Thigpin said. ``Either she was going to score or I was going to stop her. Either way, I just was going in with confidence.''

 held the Pac-10's top offensive team to 20 points below its average.

The little things added up. The Wildcats (12-5, 6-3) were held to 40 percent shooting (21-of-52) after coming in shooting 50 percent for the season.

Dee-Dee Wheeler had 14 points for the Wildcats, who had won five of their last six.

Carrie Buckner scored 10 points and grabbed 12 rebounds for the Sun Devils, who had lost three of their last four.

Thigpin, who hadn't played more than 12 minutes in a game this season, helped hold Polk to just one field-goal attempt during the first half - and that came in the first minute.

Polk didn't score a basket until 15:30 left in the game and was 3-of-7 from the field before fouling out with 7:13 left in the game. She did lead Arizona with 10 rebounds, her 13th double-double of the season.
