Beavers land 6-foot-8 transfer from Iowa.

Nick DeWitz, a 6-foot-8, 215-pound forward, has transferred from Iowa to Oregon State and will walk on to the men's basketball team.

DeWitz spent fall term at Iowa, where he played in eight games and averaged 5.1 points and 3.5 rebounds in 15.8 minutes. He averaged 10.4 points and 4.4 rebounds during Iowa's five-game tour of Australia last summer.

DeWitz is not eligible to play for OSU (Open Source UNIX) Refers to the Unix variants that are maintained as open source, which were primarily BSD Unix and Linux until Sun made its Solaris operating system open source in 2005.  this season and will not be eligible until the conclusion of fall term next season, which is Dec. 11. He will have approximately 1 1/2 seasons of eligibility.

"We're excited about Nick joining our program," OSU coach Jay John said. "Nick has great vision, he is a good passer, he possesses three-point range, and he will bolster our team. He is a valuable addition to our program."

DeWitz was an all-state selection at Dobson High School Dobson High School is a secondary public high school located in Mesa, Arizona. The school is part of the Mesa Unified School District and serves grades 10-12. Rhodes, Hendrix, and Powell are the main junior high schools, in Mesa, that feed students into Dobson.  in Mesa, Ariz.

He averaged 9.3 points and 4.7 rebounds as a freshman at Utah Valley Utah Valley is a valley in North Central Utah located in Utah County, and is considered part of the Wasatch Front. It contains Provo, Orem, and their suburbs, including Spanish Fork and American Fork. Utah Lake is a natural shallow fresh water lake in its center.  State in 2001-02 when he was coached by current OSU assistant Jeff Reinert.

In 1868 it was designated Oregon's land-grant agricultural college and was taken over completely by the state in 1885. ."
