Byline: The Register-Guard

CORVALLIS - Oregon State's Adam Daniel and Curt Willener each earned first-team honors on the Pac-10 all-academic wrestling teams announced Thursday.

Daniel, a junior from Milwaukie, has a 3.52 grade point average in history and philosophy, and Willener, a junior from Scappoose, has a 3.54 GPA in business administration.

earns national honor

Register-Guard sports editor Ron Bellamy earned third place for best sports feature in the 40,000-100,000 circulation class in judging by the Associated Press Sports Editors released Thursday.

Bellamy was honored for his 2003 story about Bobby Doerr's relationship with his former Boston Red Sox teammates. He also earned honorable mention for column writing.

OSU's Steven named to all-academic squad

CORVALLIS - Oregon State's Birte Steven was a first-team Pac-10 all-academic swimming selection.

Steven, a senior from Hannover, Germany, placed second in the NCAA meet in the 200-meter breaststroke and third in the 100 breaststroke.
