Beaver golfer second in U.S. Open qualifier.

PORTLAND - Oregon State golfer Ryan Gilmour is one step closer to a spot in the U.S. Open The term U.S. Open is applied to "open" United States national championships in a particular sport, in which anybody, amateur or professional, American or non-American may compete. These include:

 after earning one of six qualifying spots in a local qualifier Monday at Waverly Country Club.

Gilmour shot a 1-under-par 69 to finish second to medalist Brandon Kearney of Bend. Kris Isackson of Eagle Point and Shane Prante of Olympia, Wash., tied for third at 70.

Emerald Valley Golf Club in Creswell will host one of the sectional qualifiers for the U.S. Open on June 5.

UO's Dieskova, Schiller

honored by Pac-10

University of Oregon tennis players Dominika Dieskova and Markus Schiller were honored on the Pac-10 all-conference team released Monday.

Dieskova was a second-team pick on the women's team, and Schiller was on the men's second team.
