Beauty takes the honours in search for Miss Liverpool.

 girls took to the catwalk to battle for the title of Miss Liverpool.

Hopeful contestants gathered at Liverpool's Olympia on Friday night to smile and chat their way through the evening with the hope of heading on to the next stage and even to be crowned Miss England The Miss England competition is an annual beauty pageant targeted at young females aged 17-24 years living in England. Entrants must hold a British passport to enter. .

A string of beautiful girls lined up for the awards which included the well-loved and classic swimwear section as well as the more formal parade of evening gowns.

Girls were also asked to talk about their interests and what they hoped to achieve by getting involved in the competition.

Wallasey-based designer Ally Mac was one of the judges and will now go on to dress the winner Debbie O'Toole, 23, of West Derby when she goes on to represent Merseyside at the next stage of the hotly hot·ly

Runners up were Lois Frost, 18, of Walton and Beth Greenham, 19, of Wallasey.

Ally said: "It was a lovely evening.

"It can be really nervewracking and all of the girls did really well.

"During the swimwear section the girls got the chance to talk about their ambitions. it was the first time in this kind of competition for a lot of them and it can be pretty gruelling gru·el·ing also gru·el·ling
