Mike Carroll Mike Carroll (born 1975) is a professional skateboarder from San Francisco who skated for H-Street and then formed the super team, Plan B Skateboards. In a mass defection, Mike started Girl Skateboards with fellow Plan B rider Rick Howard. Carroll is often sarcastic towards people. , Sam Smyth, BA. Alex Olson. and Malto--shit, these guys are our brothers! Of course, throw in Patrick O'Dell, and Chris to film, too. [ILLUSTRATIONS OMITTED] THE STAGE WAS SET for fun in the sun with skateboarding's biggest guns. We kicked off the trip as normal, grabbing a six pack and hitting I-5 north, with two vans and Patrick and Chris in a rental car. Max Schaaf headed the drive up, pointing out different hot spots hot spots acute moist dermatitis. and leaving the occasional gravel dust cloud for the guys behind us. We had Preston sitting shotgun--literally--telling us blurry war stories of past skate endeavors, Gabe Morford and I behind them, Frank and Robbie behind us, and then Julien and Tony T holding it down in the back. As soon as a couple brewskis had set in I reached in my pocket and grabbed some dice to see who was in for a good ol' wholesome game of three's away. Nobody seemed down at first, so I decided to teach the game to our newest camp member, Lil' Robbie Russo, a 16-year-old ripper Software that extracts raw audio data from a music CD. See ripping and MP3. from San Pedro, CA. He was kinda green on the dice tip, so I broke him in slowly. "Now look kid, it's three's away; threes are zeros, and you try to get the lowest score possible. Now roll, punk!" Easy as that. The kid came out of the gates hella hard! After a few rolls he'd even tossed a perfect game. Blackout--all threes--taking me for 50 bucks! I gained new respect for the kid. We stopped near Shasta for a piss break--by this time it was dark, and as I looked back I saw the Girl van pulling up, bumping rave music Rave music consists of forms of electronic dance music that are associated with the rave scene. The guys came barreling out of their van, beer cans everywhere, with everybody in a super good mood! I knew our crews were going to mesh well. [ILLUSTRATIONS OMITTED] WE MADE IT TO MEDFORD, OR that night, meeting up with T-Mo, Peabody, P-Kid, Andrew Allen This article is about Andrew Allen, the American statesman. For the astronaut, see Andrew M. Allen. Andrew Allen (1740-1825) was a British North American Loyalist from Pennsylvania during the American Revolution. , and John Alden John Alden (1599?–September 22 1687) was one of the Pilgrims who emigrated to America in 1620 on the Mayflower and founded the Plymouth Colony. He was originally hired by William Bradford and others to be their cooper. , and we woke early to hit the park. Good skating went down: I saw Andrew Allen do a front noseblunt slide up top while effortlessly ripping the park. He looked like he really enjoyed it. Trujillo was blazing around in his usual park shark style. McCrank was doing frontside 360 rock and rolls; it was a good start to the trip. We headed north to Brookings, OR, and it became a "Who's going to jump the pool show?" starring T-Mo, TNT TNT: see trinitrotoluene. TNT in full trinitrotoluene Pale yellow, solid organic compound made by adding nitrate (−NO2) groups to toluene. , Rick McCrank, and co-starring Frank Gerwer, Alex Olson, and Ryan P-Kid, with a special appearance by Mike Carroll and Lil' Robbie Russo. Needless to say, a couple guys didn't make the cut. All in all it was a good day of sessioning, ending with a heated game of SKATE. [ILLUSTRATIONS OMITTED] WE HEADED TO THE COAST and set up shop for our first night of camping. Mind you, this was day one on the camping tip, so everybody was trying to figure out their new tent setups. The newbies in the squad had a bit of a struggle getting theirs going, and Patrick and Chris had the Swiss Family Robinson Swiss Family Robinson family shipwrecked on a deserted island. [Br. That evening, sounds of a raging fire and hot chops on timber coupled with screams of man-over-nature victory were heard throughout the forest. We got up the next morning and took it back to Brookings for another rip ride before heading north to Port Orford where Lil' Robbie, Max, Peabody, Howard, and Alex destroyed the park--and a wicked game of horseshoes went down to boot. [ILLUSTRATIONS OMITTED] WE SET OUT FOR REEDSPORT that night, where Malto got a sick nosegrind and McCrank and Julien ripped around. TNT busted one of the fattest frontside airs to tail I've ever seen. The boys tuckered themselves out with some evil dice games and some mystical games of SKATE. We then set out for another glorious night of camping, with Preston cooking meats and brats to utmost perfection. A new member to the squad was introduced at this time: "The director formerly known as Spike Jonze." Fun and games "Fun and Games" is an episode of the original The Outer Limits television show. Next stop: Waldsport, for the first annual Time Trials Invitational. To the victor go the spoils, and TNT remains undefeated. We acquired Peter Hewitt in Lincoln City and witnessed some savage skating that evening by TNT, Pete, John Rattray, and the Scottish Creature Stu Graham. Hammeke was also on tap. Then it was to the beach for a hellish night of campfires before heading up to Toledo for a great morning skate. Carroll was teaching young Alex Olson how to do early-grab airs, and I also took in Andrew's blunt to fakie Fakie is, in skateboarding, a synonym for riding backwards on a skateboard. [ILLUSTRATIONS OMITTED] "LIL' ROBBIE WITH HICKIES ON HIS NECK" AFTER A LONG DAY of sessioning we struck out for Devil's Lake for another camping expedition, where Lil' Robbie Russo ended up with hickies on his neck. Destination Portland ... and meeting up with Eric Koston for a demo at the Dept. of Skate! The night ended with a great dinner at Montage; unfortunately, Julien--no stranger to losing--lost the tab on a fierce dice game with Rick Howard. To ease the pain, we all headed out for a night of fun. The massacre ended with a beautiful session at Burnside, blowing through the coping at 5 am. We rode out the morning, then took it to the Battle Ground for a late-afternoon sesh where Malto squeezed in a wicked nosegrind over the loveseat before the rain set in. Off to Orcas ... [ILLUSTRATIONS OMITTED] "WE HEADED FOR A LOCATION THAT ONLY WIZARDS CAN SPEAK OF" THE FERRY RIDE TO ORCAS was magnificent, with dice games and bird feeding for sport. We set sail with our extended family to Seattle, for a demonstration at the Highland Street Plaza. It was phenomenal: Ferocious 50-50's from the bank to the rail by Howard and Peabody, blinding bluntslides by Julien Stranger, Malto's awe-inspiring rail dismantling, and BA crushing shit with his deep bag of tricks. After the demo we took in some Italian cuisine for a Last Supper with our new family. We had a great trip with our fellow brethren, the Girl team.
