You don't get that sexy click as you snap your compact shut, but when it comes to blotting a decidedly unseductive shiny nose, oil-absorbing papers are just the job. Instantly mopping up grease and dirt, complexions love 'em. They leave skin fresh and foundation in place, without adding a powdery pow·der·y

M's choice Lehcaresor Papier Poudre, pounds 15 for 12 booklets of 65 sheets (call 020-7639 4873 for mail-order). Made with natural ingredients like talc and kaolin kaolin (kā`əlĭn): see china clay. , this is the original and best - it's been blotting away unwanted shine since early last century. Three shades suit all skin tones. lllll

The Body Shop Powdered Paper, pounds 1 for 60 sheets. Hello, hello, hello, these babies are similar to the Papier Poudre booklets, but the M girls didn't find them quite as good. In two shades, Rose and Beige. llll

Shu Uemura Face Paper, pounds 8 for 30 sheets (call Harvey Nichols on 020-7235 2375 for mail-order). Fine sheets of rice paper soak up oil instantly and gently without removing make-up. Nice for popping in your handbag, but pricey. lll
