Beauty/ win or bin? ideas.

FEELING the heat? Keep your cool when temperatures are rising with a refreshing facial spritz. This week, we test three mists on the beauty market so you don't have to get hot and bothered:

REN ren
 or jen

In Confucianism, the most basic of all virtues, variously translated as “humaneness” or “benevolence.” It originally denoted the kindness of rulers to subjects.
PHYTO PHYTO Phytoremediation/Biotechnology Solutions for Spills (Environmental Technology Centre program, Canada government)  DYNAMIC INSTANT LIFT FACIAL SPRAY, pounds 18 (www.lookfantastic.com)

This refreshing spray claims to be able to both tighten the skin and smooth away fine lines. We can't claim that it did - although perhaps would with repeated use - but it's a wonderful revitaliser on a hot day. Gently scented with an uplifting aroma that includes fig, it certainly hydrates and cools.

Fragrant gum resin obtained from trees of the genus Boswellia (family Burseraceae), particularly several varieties found in Somalia, Yemen, and Oman.
HYDRATING FACIAL MIST, pounds 9 (www.nealsyardremedies.com)

Powerfully scented with the smell of frankincense, this new facial spritzer is an exotic experience. Rejuvenating rather than refreshing, the spray leaves your skin feeling a little smoother and slightly perfumed. A lovely handbagfiller for hot nights.

BOOTS EXPERT SENSITIVE REFRESHING FACIAL SPRITZ, pounds 1.99 (Boots nationwide)

Looking more like a deodorant than a cute summer handbag accessory, this bulky water spray is intended to refresh and hydrate the face.

However, while the product claims to relieve skin dryness, its effects are minimal and shortlived.
