Beautiful illustration.Dear editor, I was pleased to see the photo of our Governor General receiving communion communion: see Eucharist; Lord's Supper. from a Roman Catholic archbishop (March 2003). I am a life-long Anglican An·gli·can adj. 1. Of or characteristic of the Church of England or any of the churches related to it in origin and communion, such as the Protestant Episcopal Church. 2. Of or relating to England or the English. n. and, since attending a parochial school parochial school (pərō`kēəl), school supported by a religious body. In the United States such schools are maintained by a number of religious groups, including Lutherans, Seventh-day Adventists, Orthodox Jews, Muslims, and in my youth, feel a close bond with Roman Catholics. In December I visited Australia to attend my daughter's university graduation Graduation is the action of receiving or conferring an academic degree or the associated ceremony. The date of event is often called degree day. The event itself is also called commencement, convocation or invocation. at a Roman Catholic university. The day began with a lovely mass for all the graduates and their guests. We were told that because it was an ecumenical mass, everyone who wished to was invited to receive communion (with the bread and the wine)! As you can imagine it made my daughter's graduation much more meaningful for both of US. H. Doreen Bellinger Vancouver |
