Beau gets the vote at Goodwood; RACING.

Byline: Nick Robson

SOPHIE'S Beau looked a winner waiting to happen on his last start and carries the nap vote in Goodwood's Celer Et Audax Median Auction Maiden Stakes (4.20).

Trained by Brian Meehan, who has a wealth of juvenile talent with the likes of Arcano, Radiohead and Lady Of The Desert, the American-bred colt has improved for racing to date.

Fifth on his debut on the July Course where he ran far too keen, there was definite progression next time out.

He returned to Headquarters and looked all over the winner of a six furlong maiden before Andrew Balding's 50-1 shot Side Glance scythed him down close home.

The winner has since finished second to a decent sort of Richard Hannon's so the form looks to be holding up and with Frankie Dettori booked to do the steering, a bold bid is assured.

John Dunlop's horses always tend to improve steadily and that is that the case with Phonic phon·ic

Dunlop likes nothing better than a winner at one of his local tracks and this son of Green Tune has run in two above average maidens to date.

Ninth behind Hannon's Cadley Road, the race was stacked full of future winners, but he showed more behind Michael Bell's Wigmore Hall at Newmarket.

Ffos Las stages another notable meeting as it sees the return of Nicky Henderson to the training ranks after his wellpublicised three-month ban.

At Lingfield David Arbuthnot's Fazza should appreciate the drop down to the minimum distance in the Oxted Maiden Stakes (2.25).

He showed plenty of speed in his last race over six furlongs, surprising for a son of Sulamani, but was worn down close home.

That was a promising run and could be value against the likely favourite Admin.
