Beaton's beaten in Scots final; DARTS.


STEVE Beaton Steve Beaton (born 5 April, 1964 in Coventry, Warwickshire, England) is a for the Professional Darts Corporation (PDC).

He won one version of the World Professional Darts Championship in 1996.
 continued his good run of formby reaching the final of the Saturday Scottish Players Championship in Irvine.

He beat Stuart Holden 6-4, Colin Monk 6-5, Mark Webster 6-4 and Jelle Klaasen 6-5 to reach the quarter-finals.

There he beat Vincent Van der Voort 6-3 before going on to defeat Peter Wright 6-5 in an exciting semi-final.

Beaton playedWes Newton in the final - whom he beat a fortnight ago in Austria to claim his first title for eight years - but lost 6-5. In the Sunday Players Championship, Beaton made it to the semi-finals.

Startingwith a bye, he beat Chris Allen 6-3 in the second round, then Matt Padgett 6-2 and Kirk Shepherd 6-5. In the quarter-finals he beat Dave Smith 6-3 but Michael Van Gerwen Michael van Gerwen (born April 25, 1989 in Boxtel, Netherlands) is a Dutch professional . He is nicknamed Mighty Mike. In January 2007, van Gerwen became the youngest player ever to compete at the BDO version of the World Professional Darts Championship at the age of 17  halted his progress 6-3 in the semi-final.

Beaton will be in action in The Grand Slam in Wolverhampton at noon on Sunday televised by ITV (1) See interactive TV.
