This opener concentrates on the Abbey Road years from 1962-69, complete with narration from producer George Martin and the four stars themselves, including the late guitarists George Harrison and John Lennon.

The Beatles: The First US Visit (9.35pm) recalls the Fab Four's 1964 tour and is followed by a screening of the 1965 film, Help!

Tomorrow night, How The Beatles Rocked The Kremlin (BBC4, 8pm) is a Storyville special exploring the group's influence behind the Iron Curtain For the Iron Maiden video by the same name, see .

Behind the Iron Curtain is a concert recorded by Nico for "Pandora's Music Box '85" at De Doelen Concertgebouw, Grote Zaal (Great Hall), in Rotterdam, the Netherlands on October 9, 1985.

n n n 'Why so serious?' asks The Joker in the first regular satellite screening of Christopher Nolan's second impressive Batman film, The Dark Knight (Sky Premiere, 8pm).
