It is distinguished by its striking pattern of black or dark brown stripes alternating with white. crossing in Abbey Road to mark the 40th anniversary of its creation. The crowds celebrated the occasion by singing some of the Fab Four's best-loved hits as they jammed into the road on and around the now-famous crossing. Tony Bramwell, the band's former road manager, who was present on the day the shots were taken, said: "Other than Paul and Ringo, I'm the only person alive who was here on that day. It's great to see that the whole thing carries on. "Through the musical genres and revolutions of the last 40 years the Beatles are still number one." He said at the time the cover was "just a photo" and the shoot only took minutes, but he expected that McCartney and Starr would be watching coverage of yesterday's event on television.
