Beating the drum for pedophilia (United States).New Orleans--The Wanderer (March 4, 1999) reports that three professors of the Psychology Department of Temple University claim that childhood sexual abuse is usually not harmful (The Psychological Bulletin, July, 1999). They recommend that the term "victim" not be used and that the terms "child abuse" and "molestation molestation n. the crime of sexual acts with children up to the age of 18, including touching of private parts, exposure of genitalia, taking of pornographic pictures, rape, inducement of sexual acts with the molester or with other children, and variations of these " be replaced by value-free terms such as "adult-child sex." The North American Man-Boy Love Association (NAMBLA NAMBLA North American Man/Boy Love Association NAMBLA National Association of Marlon Brando Look-Alikes (South Park) ) is delighted with the report. As its name indicates, this group has been trying for years to make pedophilia pedophilia, psychosexual disorder in which there is a preference for sexual activity with prepubertal children. Pedophiles are almost always males. The children are more often of the opposite sex (about twice as often) and are typically 13 years or age or younger; respectable in society so that homosexuals may expand the seduction of youngsters without fear of retaliation. Needless to say, reputable experts in child abuse continue to warn about its scarring effects. Dr. David Finkelhor, a leading U. S. researcher in the field of child sexual abuse Child sexual abuse is an umbrella term describing criminal and civil offenses in which an adult engages in sexual activity with a minor or exploits a minor for the purpose of sexual gratification. , lists some likely or possible consequences of childhood seduction: confusion about sexual identity and sexual norms; inability to differentiate sex from love; guilt, shame, anxiety; lowered self-esteem, depression, vulnerability to drug and alcohol abuse; impaired ability to judge the trustworthiness of others; an age-inappropriate sexual knowledge; sex acts sometimes compulsively re-enacted with other children; a higher risk of suicide; and repetition of sexual abuse in adulthood in order to gain a feeling of psychological mastery over the experience. Dutch psychologist Gerard van den Aardweg states that there is no such thing as "non-coercive sex" with children; it always involves an abuse of adult authority. The Catechism of the Catholic Church The Catechism of the Catholic Church, or CCC, is an official exposition of the teachings of the Catholic Church, first published in French in 1992 by the authority of Pope John Paul II. states that homosexual acts "are contrary to the natural law. They close the sexual act to the gift of life. They do not proceed from a genuine affective and sexual complementarity com·ple·men·tar·i·ty n. 1.
