Beating credit crunch in Europe.A NORTH East council is looking to Europe Europe (y r`əp), 6th largest continent, c.4,000,000 sq mi (10,360,000 sq km) including adjacent islands (1992 est. pop. 512,000,000). to boost the economy.
Gateshead Council has started working with emerging European cities to find new ways of promoting entrepreneurship en·tre·pre·neur n. A person who organizes, operates, and assumes the risk for a business venture. [French, from Old French, from entreprendre, to undertake; see enterprise. and technology and developing the local economy. The council is heading up a new European project to explore the triple helix Helix - A hardware description language from Silvar-Lisco. theory, which uses a combination of public sector, university and business thinking to drive forward economies. Gateshead will work with experts from eight similar European locations. The council will work with partners to look at how the design, creative and engineering sectors could be used to make the borough more attractive to investors. It will also look to develop a unique support system for individuals and businesses to encourage entrepreneurs and attract talented people to Gateshead. Council Leader Coun Mick Henry said: "The face of our local economy has changed and traditional industries have been replaced by more modern and diverse business sectors. It is our responsibility to adapt to, and embrace, this change." |
