Beaten in gay mecca.


Chris Crain thought he'd be safe walking hand in hand with his boyfriend in gay-friendly Amsterdam in the wee hours of April 30. So when a strange man spat on him, Crain, editorial director for Window Media, which owns the Blade and other gay newspapers, turned to ask why. That's when a group of men appeared and attacked "I got lucky: no broken bones ... just some very nasty bruises and a lot to think about," Crain on the Blade Web site.
