BearingPoint Completes Windstream Launch Project.

Successful financial system conversion and integration provide critical infrastructure to telecom spin-off

MCLEAN, Va. -- BearingPoint, Inc. (NYSE:BE), one of the world's largest management and technology consulting firms, has completed an extensive financial management system overhaul for Windstream, a new communications company created from the wireline division of Alltel and merger with VALOR Communications Group.

In order to complete the spin-off from Alltel, Windstream's financial data needed to be separated from Alltel's JD Edwards system, and later reconfigured for Windstream's use. Further, with the merger with VALOR, the data and configuration from its JD Edwards system had to be integrated into the Windstream system. To meet the business objectives of both Alltel and Windstream, the project had to be completed within six months.

"The project itself was an overwhelming success," said Brent Whittington, Windstream's chief financial officer. "We actually completed a project that many didn't believe could be done. The work that the BearingPoint team put in was a direct contributor to that success."
