Bear Stearns Launches Venture Capital Effort Focusing on Media, Communications, and Technology.


NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--August 20, 1997--In its most recent commitment to the asset management business, Bear, Stearns & Co. Inc. announced today that it has hired Clifford H. Friedman as a senior managing director to spearhead a new media, communications and technology venture capital effort. This effort will focus on investments in the areas of intellectual property, content creation, communications, and technology.

Clifford Friedman comes to Bear Stearns with over 16 years of venture capital investment, financial, technical, and media industry experience. For the past three years he served as senior vice president of Universal Studios where he was responsible for the creation of Universal's New Media Group's growth strategy and new business effort; and as vice president of strategic development at NBC NBC
 in full National Broadcasting Co.
