Bear Stearns Announces $10 Million Charitable Fund to Aid World Trade Center Victims and Families.

NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--September 17, 2001

Bear, Stearns & Co. Inc. today announced its commitment on behalf of the firm and its employees to donate at least $10 million to charities benefiting the victims and families of the World Trade Center tragedy.

James E. Cayne, chairman and chief executive officer of The Bear Stearns The Bear Stearns Companies, Inc. (NYSE: BSC) is the parent company of Bear, Stearns & Co. Inc., one of the largest global investment banks and securities trading and brokerage firms in the world.  Companies Inc. said, "We are all deeply moved by the tragic events of last Tuesday Last Tuesday is a Christian melodic punk rock band hailing from Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. The firm will establish a charitable foundation that will collect donations from employees and the firm. Employees will be notified in the coming days on the specifics of how they can contribute.
