  Corporation today announced that Ken Wells has joined the company in the new position of Senior Vice President of E-commerce e-commerce, commerce conducted over the Internet, most often via the World Wide Web. E-commerce can apply to purchases made through the Web or to business-to-business activities such as inventory transfers. .

In his new position Mr. Wells will provide strategic and daily direction for all e-commerce activities, supporting the rapid development and maximizing the long-term growth and contribution of the Bear Creek Web sites, which include Harry and David, Jackson & Perkins, and Northwest Express, as well as new business opportunities. Bear Creek estimates that close to 20 percent of its approximately $300 million in direct marketing sales will be via the Internet this fiscal year, and that within the next few years the number will reach 35 to 40 percent.

Wells will report to Nancy Tait, Executive Vice President/Chief Marketing Officer of Bear Creek Corporation.

Wells came to Bear Creek from Discovery Channel, where as Vice President of Affinity Marketing he was deeply involved in all aspects of Discovery's e-commerce initiative, and the initiative to integrate all consumer marketing.

Wells also held the positions of General Manager of Database Services with EDS (Electronic Data Systems, Plano, TX, www.eds.com) Founded in 1962 by H. Ross Perot (independent candidate for the President of the U.S. in 1992), EDS is the largest outsourcing and data processing services organization in the country.  and Database Resource Director at Conde Nast Publications, Inc., bringing over 20 years of direct marketing expertise to Bear Creek's e-commerce team.

Wells received a Bachelor of Arts degree from The American University American University, at Washington, D.C.; United Methodist; founded by Bishop J. F. Hurst, chartered 1893, opened in 1914. It was at first a graduate school; an undergraduate college was opened in 1925. Programs provide for student research at many government institutions. .
