Who: Trumpf Inc. (Farmington Farmington.

1 Town (1990 pop. 20,608), Hartford co., central Conn., on the Farmington River; inc. 1645. It is mainly residential with some light industries. The town has a private girls' school and the Univ.
, CT)

What: TC L 2530 Plus laser cutting machine with Sprint Axis motion technology

Why you should care: Trumpf claims that its new Sprint Axis motion technology achieves rapid acceleration, which substantially increases production by increasing "beam on" time. In fact, the company says its new machine can exceed the performance of high-speed linear drive machines that cost a lot more.

Pertinent PERTINENT, evidence. Those facts which tend to prove the allegations of the party offering them, are called pertinent; those which have no such tendency are called impertinent, 8 Toull. n. 22. By pertinent is also meant that which belongs. Willes, 319.  Data: The machine clocks acceleration rates of up to 1g (390 inches/[second.sup.2]) and can increase productivity by up to 40% when material, cutting speed and part geometry geometry [Gr.,=earth measuring], branch of mathematics concerned with the properties of and relationships between points, lines, planes, and figures and with generalizations of these concepts.  are taken into account. The Sprint Axis is Axis I Psychiatry A classification dimension used with DSM-IV, which includes clinical disorders and syndromes and/or other areas of concern. See DSM-IV, Multiaxial system.  a lightweight, independently operating axis with a movable working range of 3.9 in. The machine is equipped with software that automatically evaluates the geometry of each part and calculates the most efficient processing order.
