The highlight of the conference will occur on Feb. 27. On that Thursday, Parks and Recreation Day on Capitol Capitol, seat of the U.S. Congress Capitol, seat of the U.S. government at Washington, D.C. It is the city's dominating monument, built on an elevated site that was chosen by George Washington in consultation with Major Pierre L'Enfant. Hill, delegates will meet at the offices of their senators, House members and congressional staff to educate them on important parks and recreation-related legislation. The meetings also give attendees the opportunity to discuss state and regional matters with their federal legislators, who often have great influence on local issues in the districts they represent. NRPA's public policy staff will be intimately involved to help attendees get the most from their time on Capitol Hill. The day before the Capitol Hill visits will include background briefings on legislation and policy.
