Be a sport...

Byline: D EDWARD THOMPSON Edward Thompson could refer to several people:
  • Edward Thompson (of Sheriff Hutton) (c. 1639–1701), wine merchant and MP
  • Edward Thompson (1697-1742), MP and Lord of the Admiralty

I WAS pleased to see John Brown of Stockton (Not Readers' Letters, 27.02.09) decrying the preponderance of councillors' letters on these pages.

In the week beginning February 16, there was one day on which no letters from councillors appeared, a refreshing change.

There have been many occasions when half or sometimes more of the letters published have been from councillors. Boring!

I suggest putting councillors' letters on the sports page Noun 1. sports page - any page in the sports section of a newspaper
page - one side of one leaf (of a book or magazine or newspaper or letter etc.) or the written or pictorial matter it contains
, then I would never see them.
