Business/Technology Editors

MARLBOROUGH, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--April 24, 2000

Be Free's ClickStart API and Webs Unlimited's Channel Cash Give

FrontPage 2000 Web Builders an Easy Revenue Source with

"Point and Click" Creation of Affiliate Links

Be Free, Inc. (Nasdaq:BFRE BFRE Besoin en Fonds de Roulement d'Exploitation (French: Working Capital Requirement for Exploitation) ), the leader in performance marketing, and Webs Unlimited, a leading provider of software products for web developers, today announced that they are partnering to provide Channel Cash, the first free-of-charge add-in to Microsoft (Nasdaq:MSFT MSFT Microsoft (stock symbol)
MSFT Movimento Sociale Fiamma Tricolore (Italy)
MSFT Multi-Stage Fitness Test
MSFT Master of Science in Family Therapy
MSFT Macalester Students for Fair Trade
) FrontPage 2000(R) for affiliate marketing. Channel Cash, created by Webs Unlimited, is the latest addition to its suite of FrontPage add-ins. Channel Cash interfaces with Be Free's ClickStart(SM) technology, which enables easy affiliate registration and the "point-and-click" creation of affiliate links.

"Our partnership with Webs Unlimited allows for the completely trouble-free commerce-enablement of FrontPage 2000 web sites," said Gordon Hoffstein, chairman and CEO (1) (Chief Executive Officer) The highest individual in command of an organization. Typically the president of the company, the CEO reports to the Chairman of the Board.  of Be Free, Inc. "Through the Channel Cash add-in, FrontPage 2000 users will be able to connect to any of hundreds of affiliate programs with just a few clicks of the mouse, and begin earning commissions within minutes."

ClickStart works directly within an affiliate's web authoring tool environment using eXtensible Markup Language See XML.

code. ClickStart is an application programmer's interface (API) that allows web authoring tools to seamlessly and invisibly connect affiliates directly to Be Free's infrastructure and manage their relationships with Be Free's merchants without having to leave their web authoring tool. ClickStart was launched earlier in the year with Netopia's netJane web authoring tool, and is scheduled to ship in TrellixWeb's next product upgrade.

Prior to the availability of Channel Cash, webmasters had to leave the web-authoring environment to review and select promotions appropriate for their web site. Also, webmasters previously had to create affiliate links by cutting and pasting HTML code into the authoring tool, a process that carried the risk of errors. Channel Cash eliminates this risk and saves FrontPage 2000 users' time. Channel Cash, like all Webs Unlimited add-ins, is fully integrated into FrontPage and follows the component model familiar to FrontPage web developers.

"Our mission in providing add-ins for FrontPage 2000 is to offer the widest variety of high-quality tools possible on the Web," said Mike Chafin, president and CEO of Webs Unlimited. "Partnering with Be Free means that we can provide an important ingredient--commerce--to FrontPage 2000 sites with the maximum convenience."

The Microsoft FrontPage 2000 web site creation and management tool gives users everything they need to create and manage exactly the sites they want, whether they are creating personal web pages or corporate Internet or intranet sites. Webs Unlimited, a division of IVR (Interactive Voice Response) An automated telephone information system that speaks to the caller with a combination of fixed voice menus and data extracted from databases in real time.  Systems Corporation, is an independent software developer of products that aid in web site design and management. The company specializes in add-in software for Microsoft FrontPage 2000.

"The revenue producing potential of merchant affiliate programs makes them attractive to FrontPage web developers," said Tom Bailey, lead product manager, Microsoft FrontPage. "Channel Cash, developed by Webs Unlimited, makes the process fast, convenient and free for FrontPage 2000 users. We're really pleased to see partners Webs Unlimited and Be Free team up to extend FrontPage 2000 in this exciting new way."
