Be Britannia and rule the stage.A THEATRE has mounted a search for a "brave Britannia". The Lichfield Garrick is on the look-out for a woman to play the ultimate symbol of Britain in a production of The Entertainer. It is not a speaking part, but the performer will be on stage semi-nude. John Osborne's play is being produced by the Garrick's REP team, whose last production, Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf Noun 1. Virginia Woolf - English author whose work used such techniques as stream of consciousness and the interior monologue; prominent member of the Bloomsbury Group (1882-1941) Adeline Virginia Stephen Woolf, Woolf ? transferred to the West End. REP producer Tom Roberts Thomas William Roberts (8 March 1856–14 September 1931), usually known simply as Tom, was a famous Australian artist and a key member of the Heidelberg School. Life said: "It requires the performer to sit as Britannia, together with shield and trident trident (trī`dənt), in Greek mythology, three-pronged fork borne by Poseidon. It was variously represented as a fishing spear, a goad, or forked lightning. trident three-pronged fork; attribute of Poseidon. [Gk. Myth. , while the play's central character, Archie Rice, performs his routine. "The script does require the actor to be semi-nude, so we are looking for someone who is comfortable with their body and happy to show it off." The Entertainer will run from October 8-31.
