Bayer MaterialScience AG, Leverkusen, Germany, has completed the expansion of its production facilities for methylene diphenyl diisocyanate Methylene diphenyl diisocyanate, most often abbreviated as MDI, is an aromatic diisocyanate. It exists in three isomers, 2,2'-MDI, 2,4'-MDI, and 4,4'-MDI. The 4,4' isomer is most practically useful, and is also known as Pure MDI.  (MDI (1) (Multiple Document Interface) A Windows function that allows an application to display and lets the user work with more than one document at the same time. ) in Tarragona, Spain, by 50,000 tons a year to an annual capacity of 150,000 tons. As a result, the company has a global production capacity of almost 1.1 million tons per year.
