Bayer CropScience AG, Monheim, Germany, completes the sale of a package of selected insecticides in·sec ti·cid al (-s d l) adj. and fungicides to BASF AG, Ludwigshafen, Germany, while retaining certain back-licenses for non-agricultural applications. Taking the back-licenses into consideration, the cash purchase price amounts to EUR1.185 billion. The agreements with BASF include the insecticide fipronil and selected fungicides for seed treatment applications. "With the completion of this transaction, we have fulfilled the condition imposed by the antitrust authorities as part of the Aventis CropScience acquisition," says Dr. Jochen Wulff, chairman of the board of management for Bayer CropScience.
